Entrusted by God, Governed by Grace
Parenting as Faithful Stewards Under God’s Sovereign Grace
Every parent eventually faces a sobering realization: parenting does not really end. The normal family pattern in Scripture reminds us that our relationship to our children endures (Proverbs 17:6), and yet the way we steward those relationships changes over time. While seasons change—diapers give way to driver’s licenses, and school schedules give way to careers and families of their own—the calling to love and wisely shepherd our children remains. Parenting, then, is not merely a phase of life to survive, but a lifelong calling of stewardship, carried out under the steady, sustaining grace of our sovereign Lord.
This year’s Parenting Conference, “Entrusted by God, Governed by Grace: Parenting as Faithful Stewards Under God’s Sovereign Grace,” is designed to help us think carefully about what faithful parenting looks like across every stage of life—including the often-overlooked season of parenting adult children. While parenting methods change over time, the need for wisdom, prayer, humility, and grace never does.
